Assignment 2: iwrite
In 1976, Steve Jobs became a co-founder of Apple. 35 years later he retired, putting his enormous company into different hands, and shortly thereafter succumbed to cancer. His retirement and death did not just mean a promotion for Tim Cook, the new CEO, but a major shift in a company that has been a key player in technology innovation in the 21st century. Love 'em or hate 'em, Steve Jobs changed our lives.
So, this brings us to your writing for the week:
How has technology affected your life?
Choose one of the following prompts and in 150 words or more, provide your answer.
- Has technology affected you in a majorly positive way? What happened?
- Has technology ever inconvenienced you or hurt you? Maybe technology got in your way, slowed you down or even literally hurt you? Have you seen technology have a negative impact on society?
- How would your life have been different if you'd grown up 20 years earlier? How would you interact with others? Do you think your relationships then would differ from your present relationships? Which time period would you prefer and why?
- Become a futurist and theorize on how might technology evolve over the next decade and what changes might those changes bring.
The deadline for this blog is Sunday, September 6th at 11:59 p.m.

Hi I'm Jordan. Talking about myself is one of many things I find extremely uncomfortable. Thinking of stuff to say that people will find interesting doesn't appeal to me in anyway but I guess I'll try.
I guess I'll start out with my goals. As far as academic goals go I don't have any specific ones in mind, I just want to do well enough to maybe get a scholarship of some sort. I know I'll be cheering in college so my grades don't have to be fantastic but a full scholarship for cheerleading is almost unheard of so it's important for me to do well this year.
Cheerleading is a huge part of my life. It's how I'm choosing a college and how I hope to spend the majority of my career. I love everything about it and can't see my myself ever not cheering. This is going to be my 6th year cheering and I'm finally having to decide where I want to (hopefully) cheer in college. I really want to go to the University of Alabama because their cheer program is soooo great. To be part of something that amazing is my main goal. I don't really know what else to talk about because cheer is really all I do but I'll try to think of some stuff.
Okay ummmm
OH oh okay. I actually have another interest besides cheerleading. I really really really love movies. I'm sorry I'm Just really not an interesting person but movies are one of my favorite things in the world. I grew up in a family that always watched movies together, it was just our thing, we always did it. I don't have a specific genre I like more than another I just love them all. My favorite movies: The Goonies, Mystic Pizza, and O Brother Where art Thou. I'm not really sure why they're my favorites but I know I could watch them on a loop forever and be completely okay with that.

!st post (Thomas Winterton)
To whomever is reading this I'm going to start out with the fact that I am a geek. I love my technology and I love learning about new technology, either through a news outlet or by fiddling with a new "toy." I'm writing this so last minute due to those very reasons. I purchased an Xbox One yesterday much to my pleasure, I had been saving up to get one for a while and the moment my paycheck hit my bank account I was off to Gamestop to purchase the machine. Sadly to say I went on a gaming binge composed of Destiny and Batman: Arkham Knight (two absolutely fantastic games.) And only just recently got off games to write this blog. I'm not a habitual procrastinator but this weekend I certainly was.
I used to play lacrosse and football, I was very, very good until I suffered two knee injuries this past year and my plans with sports were put on hold for a little while. In the mean time where I would normally be at practice, I was able to develop more friendships, focus on school, and most importantly give my body rest from the constant abuse of sports.
In terms of the kind of person I am, I would confidently say that I have the driest sense of humor of anyone you will ever meet, and that's all I have going for me. Kidding of course. All jokes aside I fervently enjoy Taylor Swift, Little Debbies, Oatmeal cookies, my cat Duke and a good comic book "every so often". I'm semi comfortable around most people in the academy, considering I've known most of them since the 4th grade, and some of them even before that!
I'm sitting here trying to think of what else to write yet all I can think about is posting this and getting back into Batman: Arkham Knight so I'm gonna conclude with this paragraph. Some more side notes about my life, I have two english bulldogs, who are named Winkie, and Georgia, I also have an absolutely insane american bulldog named Thor. And the most important of them all (in my opinion) Duke the cat. I have big plans for my life, but I know that those goals will come one small step at a time. PEACE!!!

Nate Assignment 1
Hello, my name is Nate. I was born April 11, 1999 in a small suburb of Chicago called Evanston. I really only lived there for about 6 months but I still tell people I'm from Chicago so they always think that I'm cool, because being from a big city always makes you cool. I would consider myself a hard-worker, but then again everyone would tell you that to make a good first impression, so I'll let you decide. I never talk all that much, not really from being to shy and not because I don't like people, but mostly because I only open my mouth when I have something to say. I also pride myself on having a no bs personality. I pretty much stay true and keep it real.
When I'm not in school you find me 99%, and I mean 99% of the time doing one of these 5 things: eating, sleeping, playing basketball, watching sports, or playing piano. I love eating and sleeping probably more than you love your grandparents and have a 6th sense for where the good grub is. Basketball is an activity that brings me the utmost joy even though I'm not very skilled. So, I often find it just as engaging to watch good athletes play. The NBA is fantastic to watch for the highlight reel posters and crossovers, but I don't have that connection with a team like I do for the NCAA. As a young one, I was raised to be a militant fan of one team and one team only, the Michigan State Spartans. Pretty much my entire extended family attended school there so I have quite the connection. No, don't try to talk to me about UK, to me, there are just another team. On playing piano, I would say I enjoy that as contrast to basketball because it is something I'm naturally good at. I come from a family of musicians, so I guess certain strange attributes like musicality are genetic.
As for what geeks me out, the thought of leaving Lexington is high up on the list. I had my first onset of Senioritis as an 8th grader, and from there things just got worse. I have a serious urge to fly away from the nest and go somewhere full of opportunity. I do love Lexington and it will always be in my heart, but I just always feel like its time to go.
My most meaningful moment of summer vacation was probably standing a top one of the castles of Germany and just looking out upon the the meandering Rhine backed by the towering snow-peaked alps. As for what super power I would like to have, I think stretchy arms would be good because then I could dunk on everyone and basketball would be more fun.
I don't have a favorite website but here's a pitiful and embarrassing attempt by KFC to advertise their chicken that makes me laugh every time I see it: http://www.colonelsanders.com/

First Assignment Thomas Werner
Hello. My name is Thomas. Oh boy, talking about myself. I was gonna wait till I was 30 to do this, when my autobiography would actually make millions (If you steal any of this I will sue).
Anyway, on to personal goals. This year
Who am I kidding. I cant think of anything. It's sad but true, but I can think of academic goals so I got that going for me.
This school year I would like to procrastinate less. For real this time. I'm tired of cramming on the last minute, ruining an entire night. This year when I get longer assignments, I will schedule them out so I only have to work in little intervals over time, instead of the stressful alternative.
For the most meaningful moment of my summer, it would unarguably be playing in the river at my friend's farm, throwing rocks and exploring. You wouldn't understand. Or would you? You probably would. never mind.
If I could have any superpower, I would obviously have the power to have any power I wanted at any time. Duh.

Have some motivation.

Assignment 1: Hey!
This is now the fourth time I am writing this
post. To say the least, I’m incredibly indecisive. To say more, I have a
strange tendency to care too much about things most people don’t give a second
to, such as how to sound humble without crossing into self-deprecating, or how
to sound cool without coming across as self-absorbed. They’re difficult lines
to manage. I’ve been told I think too much.
My name is Allie Myers Gregory and I was born
on December 25, 1998, at 4:08 pm, while A
Christmas Story played on repeat in the background. In the sixteen years,
eight months, five days, and too-much-math hours since then, there are a few
things I have learned for certain. I know that of rock, paper and scissors, I
am most definitely a rock, and without a doubt, I would never make it as a
vegetarian. My favorite superheroes are Captain America and Batman, both
because I have a deep respect for the moral complexes they adhere to while
crime fighting and because I have a very strong tendency to root for the underdog
(Steve Rogers having been a small yet resilient fighter and Bruce Wayne being
just a regular guy beneath his mask). That being said, if I myself got to have
a super power, I would want telekinesis, and not just to turn off the lights
after I get in bed. It just seems both immeasurably convenient and extremely
effective to be able to move things without touching them. Of course, I
wouldn’t reject flying or super speed either… Really, I should just be a
magician.
As far as what geeks me out, that’s quite a list.
What can I say? I get excited about movies, books, television shows, you name
it. I adore Star Trek, particularly the new ones. I like action/adventure (saw
Die Hard recently and loved it), but also Fantasy (Percy Jackson!) and Disney
Movies (or any sort of musicals), and I’m a sucker for the occasional adorable
romance (as long as the plot is still good). I’ve dabbled in the horror genre
(with two younger brothers they’re harder to watch), but am extremely well
versed in my mysteries. From 1930s black-and-white mystery movies to modern day
BBC Sherlock, I have a fairly solid background. My favorite television show is Supernatural and my favorite book is The Mark of Athena. But my excitement
for good stories doesn’t end with just reading and watching what others have
made. From third grade when I started writing my own Nancy Drew books, to the
novel series I am working on now, I’ve been in love with making my own. I
always thought that I wanted to be a mechanical engineer, but recently I’ve
been looking into the possibility of being a film director. My answer to what I
want to be when I grow up has recently changed to “the next James Cameron.”
As far
as my goals for this year, I have too many to list. I’m the type of person who
gets myself into the most ambitious projects, which works out well for my
friends when they get intricately crafted, took-me-two-weeks birthday presents,
but less so for me when I’m trying to get sleep. I also have a lot of other things I’m not willing to
sacrifice, like my good grades or cross country, or time on my weekends when I
like to be doing fun outdoorsy things like hiking or camping or boating.
There’s a stack on my nightstand of eight books I want to read, and amid this
all, I want so badly to make 5s on my AP exams this year. I recognize that
there’s only so much time… but my goal for this year is to make as much of this
happen as humanly possibly. It really doesn’t seem all that likely, but to end
on another thing about me: I’m an optimist. I have hope.
(A quiz once once told me that the literary character I was most like is Sherlock Holmes.)
Favorite Website: www.netflix.com
Aditi Lohe Blog Post #1
Hi, my name is Aditi Lohe though some people apparently call me D.T. My hobbies include playing sports such as ultimate frisbee and soccer, participating on my school's speech and debate team, netflixing, running cross country, and reading. My favorite genres in books range from psychological thrillers, to adventure and romance, to dystopian fiction.
My academic goals for the year are to receive fours and fives on all my AP tests and to do well on my SAT and ACT tests. I also want to become an EAP mentor to help out younger students.
This summer, my favorite memory is going to Texas for a three week camp known as Duke TIP. People from all over the country and even some from abroad attended this camp. A lot of memories were made and overall this was a very wonderful experience.
If I could have any super power it would probably be to have the ability to pause time. This would come in handy since I am great at procrastinating. Also, it would allow me to sleep more whenever I want which is a definite plus.
Some of the TV shows I like to watch are Arrow and New Girl. I haven't really explored all of the great shows out there yet but I'll get there eventually.
A video that represents most of my life is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WX58CZwyiU. My favorite website is probably my home girl Netflix.com--- we have grown much closer over these past few months.
Assignment 1: Hannah Price
My name is Hannah Price and I was born in Lexington Kentucky. In my family I have one older sister, my mom, and my dad. This school year I want to be more involved. I would like to join more clubs, activities, and sports and be actively involved in them. For the academic school year I would like to get as many A's as i can. More specifically, in English, I would like to study in learn in this subject so I can improve my English score on my ACT.
One of meaningful part of my summer was when I went to a camp for medicine in Boston. This camp really confirmed for me that I want to become a Doctor. In this camp we met doctors, toured hospitals, and even got to suture a pig's leg. Also I got to connect with a lot of different people from all over the world. Another amazing and meaningful part of my summer was getting to go to the J. Cole concert in Cincinnati. I'd been waiting for this concert for months! I'm a huge fan of his, so even though his concert was before the first day of school, I had to go!
If I could have any super power it would be the ability to time travel. I would love to go anywhere I want whenever I want to. I would love to especially time travel to the future and the Civil War era to see first hand what that was like.
My favorite website is https://www.madewell.com/index.jsp If there is any store that completely gets my style it's this one!
Hey
Hey, my name is Robert but a select few get the, dare I say, privilege of calling me Rob. Who am I? Who are you? Well in any case there is not much to me as it stands. I enjoy making jokes, though I do not think that I am all that funny. Let's see, academic goals hmm....... well I would like to avoid failing and as long as its a 90 or above I count that as a success so there's that. I hope to pass all my AP exams though I am nervous about AP Physics and I'm a little shaky on things outside of reading comprehension in English. History is one of my favorite subjects so I should be good there.
Most meaningful moment of my summer is pretty much any time spent playing games with my friends which was just about every night this last summer. That or the trip to Mexico my family took to Cancun. Whats next... uh I suppose if I had to pick any super power it would be to freeze time, I could imagine all the uses that could bring about. Forget about an assignment? Well fret not for you have all the time in the world! Need to use the restroom in the theater but afraid to miss the show? Simply freeze time and you'll never miss a beat!
What Geeks me out huh? That's a tough one... well I would say growing in my understanding of my own faith and the history of the churches of the world. I enjoy learning the ins and outs of Christendom and the individualized sects. I am particularly interested in the more eastern forms of the faith.
I have no specific website related to my Interests so I will just link my most commonly used website

Howdy Ya'll!
I thought I was bad at
face to face introductions, try typing it out on the computer. Okay so howdy y’all, my name is Gloria and you’re
about to take a trip through the dark crevasses of my mind and soul. Just kidding. First of all, Calibri is the worst font, so I’m
just gonna change that. I’m not really
sure if it’s acceptable to use words that aren’t really words in this
post. But it’s my post so whatever. My academic goals are pretty straightforward I
guess. Get all A’s. Get into a good college. Get into GSP.
Get a life in addition to my studies.
Get some sleep. Get the point?
(It is at this point
where I stall out and spend nearly an hour writing and rewriting what I’m going
to say next before I give up, get more coffee, and take a twenty minutes
breather on the deck with some Coldplay.
Eventually, I break down in a
panic, realizing I have so much to say but no desire to say it. This is why I do not write.)
Okkkkaaayyy…. Back from
the deep trench of my existentialism. I
have come to the conclusion that my life is just a series of abusive relationships. Running has destroyed my body, leaving me
with decrepit knees and aching, ugly feet.
Art supplies steals my money and the process squanders what little precious
free time I have. Screeching guitar
solos and pounding drums in the background of my daily life have ravaged my
eardrums. But with every relationship,
there is a foundation built upon love. This
love is continuously tested, yet it stands firm in the face of the stresses
that plague me.
If you have ever been
lucky/unfortunate enough to accompany me to an art fair, you will find that I am
a geek. I am that person who goes
through the racks of canvases, staring at each one, studying its technique and
flipping on the next work. I will sit on
the ground in front of a piece and simply stare at it for ten minutes straight,
refusing to speak or anything (don’t believe me, ask Dara Golding). Art has always held a special place in my
heart, ever since my early days spent finger painting in the back of the
grandmother’s art class. I have been
told repeatedly that I need to sell my art or go work somewhere where I can
just do the artsy thing all the time. Personally,
I have no desire to do this. I just like
to flip through my sketch book and run my hands over grooves left my pen,
tracing the designs over and over again.
Moving on from art we come to the unhealthy amount
of running I do. With most people
running is something that is to be avoided at all costs, which I can sometimes
agree with. However, most of time this
isn’t the case. I am weird. My favorite summer pastime was waking up
around seven, grabbing my ipod, and running to Timbuktu and back (ok maybe not Timbuktu,
just the park loop plus Keeneland and back- nine miles.) Nowadays, my allotted running time is at
cross country practice. Here, I bravely dodge
cars, dogs, and bumps in the sidewalks, pushing through the nagging pains in my
joints and muscles. All of this done in
pursuit of an exhaustion that outweighs my troubles.
If running and art were people,
then music would be their omnipresent buddy. The day I no longer have my
earphones in will be the day I am dead. I
specifically remember my new life began in fourth grade when my teacher decided
to play Coldplay’s album, A Rush of Blood
to the Head. Eight years and
hundreds of dollars spent on CDs and downloads later, my music repertoire is
far from complete. Which is one of the
things I love about music. You can spend
forever relistening to your favorite bands or wander through the infinite
universe of lyrics, instrumentals, remixes, EPs, etc. It’s great.
If you
ever tell me to pick a favorite band, song, CD… I will look at you and shake my
head because that is even more impossible than anything ever. Don’t even do it. However, I am willing to
define my music taste a bizarre collection of obscure indie bands dotted with a
few more popular bands such as Coldplay, Vampire Weekend, Death Cab for Cutie,
Cage the Elephant… yup.
Basically
these are the main aspects of my being.
Some other hobbies include going on long rants, curling up and reading/watching
nerdy things (nova, crash course world history, Weston A. Price’s monthly pamphlet,
sciencey books… and on and on), spending quality time with my bed, cooking
strange health food, tending to my plant and animal friends, and volunteering
at God’s Pantry.
I’m
at the point where I feel like I should probably end this post… but I also feel
like you still know very little about me.
hmmm… yup I’m done for now. Hope you
enjoyed this small slice of my life.
So here is a meaningful
moment from my summer vacation. In June I
went to Copper Harbor, Michigan, which is up in the U.P. From there my dad, three other dudes, and I took
a ferry eighty miles into Lake Superior to Isle Royale national park and
backpacked for four days. I took this
picture the day before we left for the island.
The location is a cabin in a place called Agate Harbor. A few of my favorite experiences include:
1. Waking
up around five in the morning and running along the road into Copper
harbor. It was cold and foggy and
everything smelled like cedar and it was pretty awesome. I took this picture after I came back from
that run.
2. Seeing
an otter just come galumphing out of the water on our last day on the
island. It was pretty cute.
3. I
saw the rear end of a moose disappear into the bushes while hiking. You’d think on an island that small with
1,500 moose you would see them more often, but I guess not. Elusive moose.
4. Going
for a 14 mile kayaking trip around the Keweenaw Peninsula with our really cool
guides Dan and Liz. That day was really
foggy and the lake was so still that the water looked like a mirror and you
could see 15 ft down to the bottom, which looked really cool.
5. Watching
the sun set around 11 ever night.

my art and music suggestions. https://instagram.com/gloria_pulley/
Howdy: Ben Edition
My name is Ben. However, my given name is Benjamin, which means, "son of my right hand". My mom told me what that meant one time several times but it obviously wasn't cool enough for me to remember. My brother (Cole), my sister (Sophie), and I (once again, Ben), were all named after our great-great-great +/- great uncle and aunt, Mr.Benjamin Cole and Ms.Sophie Cole. I'm in need of a segway to get to my stuff about my academic grades and such, so I'll kill two birds with one stone and post that picture we need that also turns out to be a great conversation bridge in my mind.
Since its so devilishly obvious what that picture means in relation to me, I won't waste your precious time explaining it.
I feel that the whole "personal and academic goals" shtick is so tiredly used that the energy I consume moving my fingers back and forth upon this keyboard will be so foolishly burned in vain. After all, there is only so many responses one can give to it. Perhaps you were struggling in a certain area of academics last year and you aspire to push back against the strains of society, beat those odds, get a passing grade, prove against the haters, etc. Or we can use the generic "What Did You Expect Me to Say" answer and admit how I ever so hope to get B's and A's, or by some miracle only granted by some woodland fairy that you meet in the forest doing some less-than-respectable deeds, STRAIGHT A'S. Honestly, I'll just do as I do when ever I go biking, do my best and hope I don't crash into a parked car.
As for summer vacation, I spent near all of it working at Tates Creek Pool as a lifeguard. It was certainly fun, with the people there being relatable people (albeit most 5 years older than me) and the shenanigans we pulled whilst no one attended the pool on rainy days remain the best part. Things like filling up the water slide with water, making scuba helmets out of gatorade coolers, and playing an odd invention known as "water ball". bonding with these strangers I knew little about at the beginning of the summer was enjoyable and comical.
Being asked what superpower you can have can cause you to explore yourself, and understand what you truly desire. Or you can just know what you favorite superhero is. Regardless, I believe I met with the former revelation. I find that if I had a superpower, it would be to never have to rest, never run out of energy. I'd like to run 10 miles, then maybe go swim another 20 just because I can. I'd like to finish one project and then move onto another because progress excites me. And when you start working on something that excites you, and envelopes all of your time and effort, it's easy to forget to eat or sleep. I guess if there is truly anything you wish to take away from this question of superhuman capacity, It is that I adore progress. I seek progress, and it excites me. perhaps my favorite superhero is the Energizer Bunny, no?
Now. as you probably concluded from my previously aforementioned picture, space absolutely geeks. Me. Out. If I didn't think that leadership in the military was my calling, I'd be all for astronomy. Exploring, progressing, understanding what so many work their entire lives to comprehend. The thought of infinite possibilities is something you do not want to get in a conversation with me on. Lest that be you enjoy 3-hour lectures on how aliens have to exist because two inertial observers are moving farther apart with accelerating velocities at opposite ends of our existence. Which, I mean, is obvious because we can't judge the space-time metric to our own measurement, it has no explicit time dependence! Duh.
But I digress.
I hope this year is filled with opportunities for improvement, for myself and all that read this. I enjoyed writing this piece and hope for the ones in the future to be as enjoyable. Thank you for the time you spent reading this.

Good morning Y'all.
My name is Tabbi Coffman. The first fun fact about comes from my name, my Mom named me Tabitha Catherine just so she could shorten it to Tabbi Cat. She thinks that she's very clever for this. To go ahead and get the main questions out of the way so I can get real nerdy my academic goals for this year are to hopefully get a 5 on the AP exam and really bring out my voice in my writing to better define my style. The most meaningful moment of my summer was probably delivering my fourth year speech at VAMPY (I will explain). And if I could have a super power I'd either want to fly (wings and all), have witch powers (Harry Potter style) or be able to bend the elements (Avatar style). I know that wasn't one super power but I mean come on do you honestly think I could narrow it down to just one super power?
To explain VAMPY simply, it's a nerd camp. You go live on campus at WKU for three weeks and take whatever class you want. I took a Humanities class with a bunch of my friends from last year. Humanities was just talking about the inevitable death of everything including ourselves and everyone we love and of course what happens next. Do we cease to exist for all eternity causing our short lives to be just a meaningless moment in the void destined to be forgotten? Or is there a divine entity that grants us the grace to live in a incorporeal form without ever tiring of our existence? These questions are a little bit intense to think about everyday so we also did art projects and watched movies so we wouldn't cry in class or something. Trust me it was very fun. I could probably write an entire book on why VAMPY is great, and tell all of the wonderful stories of my experience, and explain the pure sense of community that forms there-- but that would take forever. I will explain the most meaningful moment though. It was my last year at VAMPY and as a fourth year I gave a speech at the final banquet to the entire camp. I wrote my speech that morning as I was getting ready on a page of sketch book paper. When my room mate read it she cried and I laughed at her and I turned it in. At the banquet I was so nervous about giving my speech that I barely ate and I was just about to sneak off to the bathroom when the director of the camp announced that it was time for the fourth year speeches. Can you see where this is going? The director called my name first. So I went up there and nervously botched the first few paragraphs of my speech until I swallowed my fear and went with it. It made people laugh which was what I was going for so that was good. When I finished everyone clapped and my friends cheered for me and I sat down and proceeded to shake for another ten minutes. It was a really good moment though, I got to be one of those fourth years that give their last farewells in front of everyone. It meant a lot to me that people loved my speech.
The feels are real right now.
Okay.
Now to the good and nerdy. I consider myself to have an incredible passion for stories. May they be from books, TV dramas, or kid shows I get fully involved in the story. For example there is this kids show called Steven Universe which I just adore right now because it's cute, and has aliens in it, and there's cute songs in a lot of the episode. What's not to love? I also have a strange obsession with watching movies again, and again, and again. I don't know why. Like one day I just decided that I was going to spend the entire day watching the Prisoner of Azkaban-- ALL DAY ON REPEAT. It's an addiction. Other than wasting my life watching movies I've already seen I also LOVE to cook (my Dad was a chef before he became a lawyer so I've learned from an expert) and I consider myself a pretty hardcore doodler.
I hope this all helps you get to know me a little bit better.
Last movie I watched: The Aristocats
Current favorite song: Hotel California
Blog Post 1: Isabel Bandoroff
My name is Isabel Bandoroff and I'm 16. I play soccer for Henry Clay and CSC, I'm in Y-Club and Young Republicans (but don't worry I think Donald Trump is an idiot). My academic goals for this year are to get all A's and to pass all of my AP tests, but to specifically get a 5 on APUSH and a 4 on Ap Lang and AP Spanish. And I don't plan on taking the physics exam because the class is impossible and I don't want to waste money. My personal goals call for some background story, this summer I went on a mission trip to Haiti with my youth group. I made lasting and unforgettable relationships with all the students in the school we worked on. In fact, one of the students has access to the internet and I still e-mail him several times a week. I check it religiously. But as soon as we returned home from Haiti, we couldn't help feeling like we didn't do everything we could - there was still a lot more. So my youth group leader and I set up a Haiti Ministry Team at my church and I am one of the leaders of it. So my personal goal is to lead the team well and follow through on our projects that will continue to help the children of Haiti. This also leads me to the most meaningful moment of my summer vacation. On our last day in Haiti, we drove to the Cap Haitien and spent the night in a hotel by the beach. On our drive from Ouanaminthe to Cap Haitien, I noticed that Sony (who was married to Avelyne - two Haitians who worked for Altech and helped to organize our entire trip) got off the bus and zoomed on his motorcycle back to the hotel. Later that night, I found out why. One of the little girls I became close with had written me a letter and left it at the hotel and sony went to pick it up. It was in french but Avelyne translated it for me. She thanked me for everything I had done for her and told me that she loved me and that I was her best friend. Reading it brought me to tears and that was definitely the most meaningful part of my summer because I realized that I had actually impacted someone's life and made a difference to them. And my super power would be the ability to read minds because people lie a lot and I want to know what they're actually thinking.

Blog Post One: Tori's awkwardness
Hi. I'm Tori, I don't really know what to write about myself. I really like music, I'll listen to most anything, just depends on my mood. I really like teen drama shows, they make me happier than they probably should. I'm really not that interesting, I spend most of my time being quiet and just observing. Unless I'm with my friends and then I can get a little loud. I get agitated and stressed easily. Pizza is my favorite, and ice cream and tacos come next. Sorry this is so random and unorganised I'm just kind of writing what comes to mind.
FANDOM TIME ARE YOU READY?? I DONT THINK YOU ARE.
I really like harry potter, and I hate Snape. It makes me so angry that he is looked at as a hero even though he called lily a mudblood and bullied harry for years. But Malfoy is treated like the spawn of Satan for doing what his family was doing. Also, harry and Ginny's baby names ARE HORRIBLE.
The avengers is probably the best thing ever. Joss wedon is a beautiful person and Buffy and dollhouse were friggin awesome too. Don't ask me to pick a favorite avenger cause I can't.
Although if I did have a superpower it would be to be able to turn into a big green rage monster.
I really like books, harry potter is of course at the top. Gatsby, Jane Eyre, and Maya Angelou is probably my favorite poet. Except there's this guy, R.m. drake who writes these quotes and puts them on Instagram and pretty much self promoted himself into a best seller book and I think that's freaking cool. I like Stephen king too but I really like the Regulators, the book he wrote under his Richard bachman pseudonym, you should read it.
And another thing, the fact that I use the same 26 letters the greatest authors ever use is kinda the coolest thing ever.
I really like quotes, I think it's really cool that someone can write a sentence that means a million different things to a million different people.
I watch a lot of movies. Like a lot. And I listen to a lot of music. Eminem, fall out boy, you me at six, a day to remember and tiby Keith are the stuff I listen to the most. The fast and furious franchise is amazing and no they have not surpassed the amount of movies they should make. Gossip girl, one tree hill, friends and Friday night lights are the tv shows I've watched all the way through. I still watch supernatural, teen wolf, vampire diaries and American horror story. Horror movies are probably my favorite genre, though. I like the adrenaline rush of waiting for something to scare you; and I really like the mind horror movies that make you lose sleep at night because I hope one day I can write something that will scare someone they hide my book in the freezer.
I guess I just really like media stuff cause I want to make some thing that means something to someone like that, you know? Like I want to make something that makes people laugh and cry and love it so much that it becomes a part of them.
I build model cars and work on cars with my dad. I watch a lot of football too. I write a lot too just cause sometimes it's nice to get the thoughts out of my head. I mostly base stories on my nightmares, which is really weird but anyways.
My apologies for the rambling and the awkwardness and my wordiness, it really is a struggle, and the horrible organisation. I hope I covered all the bases?

Abi Peck's Howdy-Do
On September 20, 1999, a star was born. Or so I think, the universe is vast and I assume stars are created and destroyed through out all of time and space. On a less interesting note, on the same day in a small town in the allegheny foothills, I was born. Pennsylvania born and bred, I hail from the keystone state, although I consider the bluegrass my home. My father comes from a long line of engineers, teachers and Kentucky Colonels. My mother was born in Lexington, grew up in Richmond and went to high school in Winchester; her father, my grandpa Bentley, is a loyal distributor of Kentucky's elixir, Ale-8-one. Since the stage is set, I will get to the meat of this biographic sandwich. I have had a rough go of it this last year, with severe depression and anxiety, my school efforts may appear subpar, but I have great expectations. I have all the potential to be a great student, but I bear the gifted student's curse. Procrastination. I aspire to do well on the AP exams and majorly improve my writing skill, as my mother once put it, "You write as if English were your second language!" In my defense, my education until Henry Clay has been mediocre; education was not on the governor's agenda, and all the schools took major spending cuts.
There is something special shared between a human and an animal working together in tandem, becoming one being. One of my many passions (it's unfortunate, I have the tendency of a bulldog, grasping, obsessive, dedicated) is horseback riding and horses in general, in all honesty if I could, I would leave society to live among the gorgeous beasts. Many grow out of the infatuation, but I am certain I won't. There have been many great horses in my life, they have taught me more than any person ever has.
Book. My first coherent word. Not "momma" or "dada" but book. I have always loved books. I used to drive my dad crazy, no sooner had he finished reading a story to me than I was begging for it to be read again. Literature is the basis of who I am, without reading I would be completely ignorant as would anyone else in that situation. I am a big advocate for literacy.
A dangerous question: "What Makes You Geek Out?" I love British television. Not Doctor Who, I think it's garbage, but Sherlock and Peaky Blinders are grade A in my book. I have two brothers and something my youngest brother and I share is Shonda Rhimes' Scandal. Olivia Pope is our problematic hero. Grape Juice and popcorn is a necessary ritual. And not to go without mention, the obscene amount of times I've read the pages of Gone With the Wind. I could provide a full monologue.
God provided me with a gift. I am a person of great faith, but do not label me as religious, it has a bad taste when you say it. But on with the show. The one compliment I allow myself is the fact that I am an excellent artist. If it weren't true I surely wouldn't say. It's the only thing I'm truly good at. Forget sports or music, fine arts are my bag. I hope to become a professor of fine arts, to be paid a decent wage and have my own studio space. That would be a swell life.
I may be quiet and appear to be standoffish, but I have a story to tell. Everyone has their contributions. And though we are an ocean of voices, every droplet is needed to make the waves. I intend to learn every patch to this class' quilt, just as I hope I will be sought out. I would not usually be so windy, but as I'm a stranger in these parts, so to speak.
(Pennsylvania style riding: bareback, shaggy, dusty, and indoors because of four foot snow drifts. This trusty steed's name is Red.)
First Blog Post (Annie Deitz)
Hey everyone, my name is Annie, in case that was not already clear. I really, really, really dislike introductions like this; I happen to be extremely awkward in person and apparently even more awkward in my writing, so I am going to jump right into answering some of those questions. What are my goals for this year? Well, considering that they are probably going to be very similar to everyone else's goals, I won't spend to much time talking about them. I want to make good grades, do well on my AP tests, figure out what exactly is this "college" thing I keep hearing people talk about, and hopefully start getting my life in order. At the very end of last year, I told myself that I would use this summer to get ready for all of those things and prepare myself for this year. Did I actually do this? Of course not! Why study and research colleges when you could reread Harry Potter and binge watch Parks and Recreation on Netflix? That is all that I did this summer. All. That. I. Did. I don't regret that though, I always have been horrible with procrastinating, and now I won't be able to procrastinate by rereading Harry Potter and binge watching Parks and Rec, so maybe this summer was not a complete waste of time. But doing these things left a very small amount of time for me to leave my basement, so unfortunately I did not have all too many meaningful moments. I did have a few, and I have to say the most meaningful of them was the time I got to see a llama at the petting zoo held at Jacobsen Park's Friday Night Flicks. The movie was Big Hero Six, there were way too many people there, and we left less than halfway through, but I was able to see an amazing llama and feed it delicious looking pellets, so it was all worth it. Llamas are seriously my favorite animal ever. If I could have any super power, it would be to be able to turn into a llama. I could run away from things at a relatively fast speed. People could make sweaters out of my fur. I could eat pellets from sweaty children's hands. I wouldn't have to figure out what a college is, because although I don't know what they are, I am pretty sure that your average llama has no need to be concerned about them.
As I wrap up this first blog post, I would like to talk about the picture -GIF to be more precise- that I chose for this assignment. Lots of people already know this about me, and I think that (other than you, Mr. Logsdon) anyone who cares enough to read this probably already knows this about me. But anyways, I am completely, insanely, unhealthily obsessed with pop singer/songwriter Taylor Alison Swift. If you were to look at one of those inaccurate maps they have children make of their brains in which they divide it into sections and label each section with things that they like, 93% of my sections would be filled with Taylor Swift. She pretty much consumes my entire life. For example, from the time that I have written this post till Sunday night, the only thing I will be able to think about is her new music video. It's an annoying aspect of my personality, I'm aware, but I don't really care.

Thank you to everyone who spent the time to read this unnecessarily long description of my uneventful personality/life.
Blog 1: I'm Ahmed
My name is Ahmed (Ackhmed) Hamad, I am from Sudan, was born in Saudia, and grew up in America. Some of my academic goals are to make this my third straight year of getting a B in English(not impressive for most people, but I ain't most people), I’m also gonna learn how to carry a conversation in German, verbally and on paper.
For the last two months I was in Sudan (the hottest country ever), having a blast and talking to and "remembering" my 3000 cousins and their names. Instead of telling you my most meaningful point this summer, which I'd rather not discuss since it's a little to close to the heart. I'll say the best and worst things of my summer. The best part of the trip was meeting for the first time(that I can remember) my aunt Iman and her children, the most adorable of which is Shoody, her daughter of 9 months. If anyone wants to see a photo of her or a picture of another little person I met over there, just ask I'd love to share. The worst part being that I couldn't ever go running because I would inhale to much sand and dust( I didn't even know this was a legitimate concern, but it is!) and I'd be roadkill.
That reminds me of the most important thing I learned while over there (excluding all the language, culture, and religion stuff) which was learning how to lose all fear of getting my ass run over. It was essential to know because there's no such thing as traffic laws over there. So if you want to cross the street you've gotta grow a pair. When we first got there, I didn't like to cross the street, I would hesitate. And one time that almost got me killed, the lunatic driving had his lights off, and turned from behind a building. That was terrifying and made certain I would commit, no matter what.
So that was my spiel about Sudan, but when I'm over here in 'Murica the one thing I love more than anything in the world is playing my cello. Admittedly my love for the cello creeps to the edge of obsessiveness, but I don't care. I love cellos, but I get geeked about reading and biking. 'Cause you know, they're both awesome things to do, and books put you in a whole nother world, while bikes move you through this one (I put a picture of my books). While I love books, if it has the cover on while I'm reading it, than that will ruin part of the experience. I don't understand why it would, but it makes it harder for me to focus on and enjoy the book. I also hate when I don't have a bike available for use, like right now and until I find one or fix my broken $2.50 bike (gotta love garage sales).
Blog Entry #1 Holden Huffman
Hi, my name is Holden Huffman or "Huffdaddy." Some fun facts about me are: I have lived in Lexington, KY for my whole life, I have two brothers and one sister, I LOVE sports (specifically football and basketball), and I enjoy playing video games. On the subject of school, some of my goals for this year are to pass all of my AP tests, get a 32 or higher on the ACT, and finish the school year with AT LEAST all A's and B's. Now, onto the topic of my summer...it was great! My favorite and most meaningful moment of the summer break was when me and my family went up to Michigan to visit my mother's family. It's always fun to see family members that you only visit once or twice a year. Besides that, my summer consisted of playing video games, watching movies, hanging out, and ballin'. It's too bad that summer break is over, but I am looking forward to a great junior year!
When talking about something that geeks me out, football and basketball come to mind. My favorite teams are: NFL- Pittsburgh Steelers NBA- Houston Rockets NCAAB/NCAAFB- UK
My dad has always been a big sports fan and he has definitely passed that interest down to me.
I love watching both of these sports, as well as playing them.
