My name is Isabel Bandoroff and I'm 16. I play soccer for Henry Clay and CSC, I'm in Y-Club and Young Republicans (but don't worry I think Donald Trump is an idiot). My academic goals for this year are to get all A's and to pass all of my AP tests, but to specifically get a 5 on APUSH and a 4 on Ap Lang and AP Spanish. And I don't plan on taking the physics exam because the class is impossible and I don't want to waste money. My personal goals call for some background story, this summer I went on a mission trip to Haiti with my youth group. I made lasting and unforgettable relationships with all the students in the school we worked on. In fact, one of the students has access to the internet and I still e-mail him several times a week. I check it religiously. But as soon as we returned home from Haiti, we couldn't help feeling like we didn't do everything we could - there was still a lot more. So my youth group leader and I set up a Haiti Ministry Team at my church and I am one of the leaders of it. So my personal goal is to lead the team well and follow through on our projects that will continue to help the children of Haiti. This also leads me to the most meaningful moment of my summer vacation. On our last day in Haiti, we drove to the Cap Haitien and spent the night in a hotel by the beach. On our drive from Ouanaminthe to Cap Haitien, I noticed that Sony (who was married to Avelyne - two Haitians who worked for Altech and helped to organize our entire trip) got off the bus and zoomed on his motorcycle back to the hotel. Later that night, I found out why. One of the little girls I became close with had written me a letter and left it at the hotel and sony went to pick it up. It was in french but Avelyne translated it for me. She thanked me for everything I had done for her and told me that she loved me and that I was her best friend. Reading it brought me to tears and that was definitely the most meaningful part of my summer because I realized that I had actually impacted someone's life and made a difference to them. And my super power would be the ability to read minds because people lie a lot and I want to know what they're actually thinking.
