Blog Post 14: Isabel Bandoroff

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. We always spend it with my dad's side of the family because they're Jewish, so we spend Christmas with my mom's side because you guessed it, they're Christian. We either go to my grandmother's house in egg Harbor Township NJ and celebrate Thanksgiving in the big lobby of my great aunt shirley's appt building in Atlantic City, or they come here. When we go to new jersey, we eat philly cheese steaks and bagels with lox and walk on the boardwalk and play a lot of monopoly. This year my sister and her boyfriend and my aunt and her two kids and my uncle and his son and my grandmother and my great aunt and uncle all came here. I thought this would be great, but i learned that being the host is much more exhausting than being the guest - even if you get to sleep in your own room. You have bossy grandmothers and weird hippy uncles and little cousins spying on you and your boyfriend. Sometimes you feel like Mrs. Large and just want five minutes peace (if you haven't read that book.. sorry I hate you). You can't watch Netflix in your room or go out because you have to socialize with the family... but hey at least the food is good and I didn't have to go to NJ.
Every year I'm in charge of making the pigs in a blanket as part of our cocktail hour on Thanksgiving day, and just so you know, I make some kick ass pigs in a blanket. Thanksgiving is also great bc my grandmother and great aunt give me lots of yummy drinks (virgin of course). While this is my favorite holiday, it was ultimately sucky this year because my brother couldn't come home from his graduate program and I haven't seen him since August. But there were some good parts and I was happy I could stay home. Also I didn't feel like using commas so there are very many "and"s in here, I apologize.
