Aditi Lohe Blog Post 14
My family and I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas and probably the majority of all other American holidays. We are Hindus so we celebrate different occasion. For instance, depending on the cycle of the moon, we have Rakhi, a holiday where brothers and sisters recognize each other's importance. And then there is Diwali, the Indian new year, which falls in October or November (it depends on the Indian calendar which frankly, I do not understand at all). Diwali is also known as the festival of lights; people light candles for 4 days and pray to God as well as dance and have festivals. My favorite of all the Hindu holidays however is Holi, the color festival. Everyone wears white clothing and then throw colorful powder at each other. There are many other special day's I could tell you about but I am just too tired to list them.
