Andrew Reese: Assignment 14

My Thanksgiving is pretty standard. A few relatives, namely my grandparents (mother's side) and aunt come over for a few days. We eat all of the standard Thanksgiving foodstuffs, and after a few days they leave. Pretty boring, I know. Honestly, I never enjoyed Thanksgiving. I never get to see relatives my age, I never go anywhere, and I have to eat food I hate. I know that Thanksgiving is supposed to be about being thankful and all that, but nothing about having relatives over and eating turkey communicates that to me. Sure, there's people sometimes talking about being thankful, but I feel like gratitude is less of an attitude and more of a personality trait. People can't just summon up gratitude on command. It depends on how you feel like your life is going, and I constantly feel like mine is falling apart because I can't muster up the willpower to get things done. I have plenty of good things in my life, but they always get obscured by all the crap that usually ends up being fine anyway. And that's why Christmas is awesome.
