October 3rd,
1978. The rock band Aerosmith bailed thirty people out of jail, because they
had been arrested for smoking pot at one of the Aerosmith concerts. I don’t know
how much impact it necessarily had on our day in age, but isn’t it amazing that
a band actually cared about their fans? Instead of telling them to screw off,
or just flat out ignoring them. The band members went out of their way to bail
these random people out. How awesome is that? Some of the bands I listen to are
still protective over their fans, and they defend them to a fault. I just
really like the idea that a band, or even a single artist, acknowledges the
fact that these people- these kids- invest a lot into these people. They pay
for the tickets, and the shirts, and the music, and they just plain listen.
On this day in
history Aerosmith set an example of how people should treat their fans. And I think
that’s the coolest thing ever. I hope that if I’m ever in trouble because of a
band or as a product of a music issue, they stand up for me.
